a muted green can give you a country/cottage look if you use it everywhere. it's on the walls, the trim, the ceiling here; paired with bold magenta and powder blue furnishings. i'm loving how bold and vibrant this room is!

for today's color post, i thought i'd share my office :)

i have an interesting shaped office.
the w-shaped wall i painted green. it looks awesome with the red/orange brick wall beyond it. the straight wall is tackable so it's perfect for inspiration boards.

the white shelves look stark against the green so i warmed them up by using woven baskets, natural wood boxes, and kraft paper boxes and trays. as i accumulate more samples, i'll pick up some more of the woven baskets for the bottom shelf.

six piece remix, outfit 2

ya'll when i came across these this past weekend at payless - yes, payless - my little heart pitter pattered. they are white. they are lace. they fit my feet. they have scalloped edges. they are amazing and i probably need to get several pair or else people will wonder why my feet smell so horrible. i cannot WAIT to wear them with heels, which i plan to do as soon as my knee is back to normal. they are so girly, so vintage looking, so everything-in-life-is-right.

anyway lets stop talking about my stockings.

for the six piece remix, i decided to go with my black dress next. we had a bit of unexpected good weather so i decided to go for it.

i paired the dress with a fuchsia colored short-sleeved cardigan, which i buttoned and unbuttoned all day because i couldn't decide how i liked it best. buttoned, it made my dress look like a top and skirt which i liked. but unbuttoned was more casual and a bit more work appropriate for me considering i wear a hoodie to work every once in a while. my earrings are covered by my hair but they are little button earrings that match the necklace i wore in this post. the fuchsia and mint color looked great together.

can't help it. had to put those lace socks in again. get you some!

also, someone please tell me i need to pay more attention to my hair in the mornings. it's lookin like a rats nest.

we are gonna jump a little bit off the green color study today, but for good reason. i wanted to share a little bit of autism awareness, for a few reasons.

first, autism awareness is close to my heart because my husband works with autistic children everyday. he comes home and tells me stories of beautiful children, children that people don't understand and don't accept. most of his time is spent teaching higher functioning children their school lessons at the autism clinic. these kids are smart but need help staying focused and need praised for their good work regularly. he also works with lower functioning children, using sign language and lots of reinforcement. this job has been a challenge for him, but he loves what he does. he loves working with these kids one-on-one. and i am such a proud wifey.

the autism logo is a puzzle piece, as there is so much we do not know about the disease. each puzzle piece discovered, helps us get closer to a "cure". the puzzle pieces are all different colors, representing the spectrum of which an autistic person can be. (note: i'm not claiming to be an expert here. i'm only sharing what i have learned through my husband and online.)

one of my favorite bloggers, Wifey Singer, shared a beautiful post today about her son Elijah. i hope you will stop over to her blog to learn a bit about her family and her experiences.

lastly, you know how much i love stella and dot? yeah, kind of addicted, right? to support autism awareness, they have a special collection released. 20 percent of retail sales will go to the HollyRod Foundation, which supports families living with autism and parkinson's disease. i encourage you to check out the collection and snag some of these beautiful pieces before they are gone!

a fab food find

KJB and i never go exploring. he hates it because he thinks it's a waste of time and gas and "what-if we don't find something worth our while?" so when i can convince him to go on an adventure with me, i savor it. we found a little hole in the wall place that i actually thought was a run down shack. but whoa. amazing food and drink.

he had an oatmeal stout and i had a mocha. both were yum.

pepperoni bbq sandwich and kettle chips for him, grilled brie and potato soup for me. literally the best food ever. i couldn't finish my food it was so filling.
cute decor and mis-match furniture. my kind of place.

have you gone exploring lately? what have you found?

365 04/01

for the month of april, we are moving from the primary colors, into the secondary colors. first up is green, because i just couldn't wait any longer. i've been a fan of a few different shades of green for the past few years, including emerald and seafoam. i can't wait to dive into this hue this month with some great spaces and fashion. for today? a bit of color recognition. green is claimed to evoke these five things.
