Where I've Been & Where I'm Going

Ya'll, it's been nearly a month since my last blog post. It's so strange to even write that considering my blog has been a major lifeline for me for the past 6 years. It's been a way for me to express creativity, meet some amazing Christian women that I feel just get me, and share a bit of my life in the hopes to help and inspire others. But about a month ago, as I was rapidly approaching my 6th blogiversary and my 28th birthday, I felt this strong urge to slow down (it was God). Those kinds of urges don't happen to me often, so I applied the brakes and stopped worrying about posting because I'm supposed to. Excel workshops were cancelled postponed. Tweets became few and far between. There was a strong desire (God pushing me) to savor the summer.

So I went on a really fun trip for work to an interior design trade show. I blogged briefly about it here. KJB and I went on vacation to Savannah and Tybee Island in Georgia (photo diary below). My birthday came and turning 28 seemed less scary. KJB's brother got engaged and a wedding has been planned quickly; I'm finishing up decorations and flowers for a ceremony this coming Friday. My Nannie was hospitalized for a long-running bout of pneumonia and asthma issues (she's better now, don't worry). My love of reading was rediscovered.

Those things kept me busy in a new way and made the first half of summer fly by. With Vacation Bible School at church this week and the wedding on Friday, I'm sure this week will go by quickly, too. But this morning I opened up my computer and felt the desire to post something. To be honest, I've thought several times about calling it quits, and I've never really had those feelings about blogging. This blog isn't my job, it's something I do for fun, so I  knew that when I felt God whispering to me to slow down, it was for a reason. With the crazy, fun, and mix of emotions that have ensued the last four weeks, blogging would have felt like an obligation. A hobby should never feel like an obligation.

Blogging will continue at whatever rate it decides. I can't promise I'll post every week, but I will be around sharing bits of life and inspiration. Instagram is a great place to follow along with things in-between.

And now, photos from vacation...
