When one door closes...

... take it off it's hinges and paint it! I'm really into the look of painted doors right now. It seems so creative and intentional and I'm feeling so bold that I'm considering it in my own home! Would you ever do this? What color would you choose?!

ARTIST love

Lisa Bardot is an artist I've been following for the past year because I love to watch her Instagram videos featuring behind the scenes of her drawings. Process videos are my zone-out time and I always leave feeling super inspired to create.

Lisa creates in a variety mediums, including block printing, which I find super cool. Even cooler than that though, is the 6' dog balloon animal her and her hubs made for an animal shelter benefit. I'm not even going to share pictures here, you need to head to her Instagram highlights and watch the process. Guys. It is so bomb.

Above I'm sharing a few of her illustrations from her webpage that I super adore, but in case you needed another reason to check her out, she also makes ProCreate brushes! They are perfection and you can watch how she uses them on her instagram.

Busy Bee

When you're doing ALL. THE. THINGS. and you're starting to feel a little overwhelmed, don't forget to take time for yourself. Lately I've been go, go, go and I've found that even the smallest of breaks help to rejuvenate me.

  • Chair yoga: for 5-10 minutes, concentrate on your breathing and do some simple stretches right from your chair.
  • Take a lap around your building (or department or floor or whatever you can do) and look for something you've never seen before. Sometimes when we see something day after day we overlook it.
  • Add a plant to your desk. Something like aloe is purifying and survives well even in low light situations. The bright green will catch your eye and remind you of life away from the screen.
  • Leave the office for lunch or schedule a meeting at a coffee house - anything you can do to get yourself out of the office for a portion of the day.

In this world of constant hustle, take a break every day. Then, girl, go on. Do your thing.

2018 Christmas Planner

It may not be looking a lot like Christmas where you are, but the holiday season is upon us! It's finally feeling like fall here in the Midwest, and for me that means starting to make holiday plans. Personally, this year will be super low-key for us, but that doesn't mean I don't have movies I want to watch, treats I want to make, and of course, gifting that needs done.

Last year I shared three versions of a holiday planner (you can still find those here on the blog), but this year I wanted to simplify. A clean-cut version of inserts you can print and hole-punch yourself, then decorate however you like! Maybe you go full-on with holiday stickers and washi tape, or maybe you switch up your pens. The thing I like about these inserts is that they are completely customized. Print whichever sheets applies to you and whatever quantity you like.

The inserts include help with planning all the things you have going on this season:

-Hosting events
-Socializing and parties
-Food planning
-Movies to watch
-Bucket list activities
-Gifting
-Cards to send

The pages are oriented so that on each letter sized sheet you get a front and a back. This way you can easily print front to back to minimize your inserts you're adding to your planner.

If you print out these inserts, be sure to share it with me by tagging my planner-gram: mrs_cbellplans
Get yours here! A few tips: make sure to print 100%, not fit to page. I prefer a thicker stock paper but you can use whatever you like. Lastly, a three-hole punch simplifies the entire process!

Not ready for the holiday season planning just yet? Pin the image below so you can come back to print later!

We Wear Pink

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to encourage you to support breast cancer research and early prevention, by sharing about two credible organizations doing great things for women (and men!) across the world.

Bright Pink is an organization that focuses on early prevention and healthy lifestyle choices for 18-45 year old women. Their mission and strategy, direct from their website, is, "We’re saving women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age. We target the 52 million women between the ages of 18-45, as well as the people who love and influence them. We focus on health, not cancer, to inspire women to practice prevention. Our innovative programs, strategic initiatives and powerful partnerships directly reach women in their daily lives and healthcare providers in their daily practice."

BCRF is a foundation with it's own mission, "Our mission is to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising research. Research is leading us to the core of this insidious disease. Research is transforming lives every day as women and men get the help they need." Just this week they announced a record-breaking $63 million commitment to funding research for the 2018-2019 year. With 300 scientists at leading institutions, they will use these grants to study everything from the biology of a cancerous cell to developing new treatments.

Support these organizations today by donating directly to them, or shopping the products I've curated for you below.

4 + 4

Four reason's why you'll love a wall tapestry and four patterns from Society 6 you're bound to enjoy.

+ Tapestries are a clever way to add personality to a room. Browse Society 6 for five seconds and you'll see there's a style for everyone. Like chic patterns like marble and faux foil? Check. Like eclectic art like llamas wearing a turban? Check. Like landscapes? Check.

+ A large tapestry not only adds personality, but it's also a great way to spice up your color palette. This is especially helpful for renters and residence halls where you're not aloud to paint the walls. The material is lightweight so it could easily be hung with Command Strips or a thumb tack.

+ Speaking of easily hung, another thing I love is how easy they are to swap out. If you get tired of the same piece, move it to another room, or store it for a few months and hang a new one. You could completely change the feel of a space just by changing out this one piece.

+ While you may expect to spend a hefty price tag, they are surprisingly affordable compared to a painting or even a print. Considering it doesn't need a frame, which is where you will often double the cost of the piece of art, a 104" wide tapestry on Society 6 is only $84. They constantly have coupon codes available too, which is even better. On a recent trip to South America, I purchase a tapestry similar in size for under $40!
