Project progress - Issue 3

It's been a while since I gave an update on my mega project. The most exciting thing since my last post, I think, is the geothermal well progress. Check out these trenches!

That's a lot of digging! The wells were drilled about a month ago. Now all of the horizontal connections through the lot and into the building are happening. Sometimes it's just crazy to me to think about the these pipes coming from the ground providing the source for major mechanical systems in the building. I'm not sure I even understand it completely. I do know though, it looks like a muddy mess!

What else is happening? The roof. Even though weather has been against us, we are moving along at a decent pace. And drywall has started on the third floor so it really is starting to look like walls. Hopefully on my next update I will have some interior shots. And in the next couple of weeks, we will bring a couple mega huge beams into the basement. Still working out logistics on that one but no matter, I'm sure there will be interesting photos.

Reading Room. Another girly dream room.

A reading room with a comfy sofa, rustic armoire to store my favorites, mercury glass, lamps, fresh blooms, and crocheted baskets sounds just about perfect. Keep it neutral with taupe's and accent with soft peach, blush and charcoal. Some sheer lace curtains with pure sunlight shining through makes it even better.

Tips for a successful glamping trip

Glamping! You don't know what glamping is?! You must be crazy. Here's the breakdown:

Glamping is my kind of camping. Somehow high school made me into a bit of a priss; I liked to stay pretty neat and clean, and I hated bugs. As a kid I camped a lot {see a reminiscent post here} and once I got to college I realized I kind of missed it. I started planning my own camping trips with my friends and through the past few years of trips, I have come up with a pretty great list of ways to camp glamorously.

And now to make it glamorous...

What do you pack for camping? Let me know below!

just a day... oh, wait. ENGAGEMENT TEASERS!

oh yeahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you feel my excitement? Because I have just received the teasers from our engagement shoot last week and am LOVING what I'm seeing. I put a lot of thought into these photo's and I'm so thrilled to see that they came out better that I had hoped. They are so us and perfectly represent the style of our wedding day.

And yes, those are the fabulous moss letters I blogged about in this post.. They look awesome! Special shout out to Jacin of Lovely Little Details for that craft.

TODAY! (plus 366 days)

In exactly one year (it will be leap year, so one extra day) at this time I will be decorating at Cardinal Hills Golf Course. After four hours of decorating I will be starting my hair and makeup. After a couple of hours of primping I will be putting on my dress and headed to see my love bug for our first look. He will cry. I will cry. I will touch up my make up and we will spend a couple hours taking photographs we will keep and cherish our entire lifetime. Then we will drive to the church Kyle has belonged to since before he was born, the church that will tie us to each other forever. I will walk down a flowered aisle. We will giggle and whisper. We will both say "I do", exchange rings, and share our first kiss as husband and wife. I will cry again and so will he. Then we will arrive at our beautiful reception site, cut the cake, have our first dance, and spend time with the amazing family and friends who have joined us on our special day. It will be magical.

My excitement level was high when I came in to the office today. So of course my co-workers had to (playfully) chop me down. One person said the air conditioner broke at the church on her wedding day. One person said her flowers wilted. One said her face had 20 extra pounds of make up on it. One told me about tuxedo's alterations that had to happen down to the minute. One had shoes two sizes too small.

I know there will be things that go unplanned on my wedding day.  All I can do now is prepare for anything that could come up and deal with the unexpected as it comes. I will rely on my two day of coordinators to shield me from the problems.

The next year will go fast but I can't wait. In the meantime I have four other weddings (so far), showers, bachelorette weekends and parties to look forward to. One of those I'm in and two of them I'm helping to plan.

It will be an amazing 366 days.

xoxo

for Molly

My dear Molly,

After our discussions yesterday about colors and dresses, I was inspired to pull together some gorgeous photos from Style Me Pretty. The navy substitutes as your neutral which means any color can be added and I think a lovely violet purple would look awesome. Add a touch of silver sparkle and you have a wedding palette that is so "Molly" I can't even get over it. I hope you like it and I hope it inspires you in your wedding decisions.

ps: i can't wait to be a bridesmaid on your big day!!! xoxo

it's a funny day

YA'LL. I BOUGHT MY DRESS.

Yep, it's true. This past Saturday with my mom, grandma, and sister (aka MOH) on board I drove down to Indianapolis to a designer boutique, tried on five dresses, and bought THE one. It's gorgeous. Duh.

So I should be on a high right now, right? Except now I'm kinda freaking out over the bridesmaid dresses. My dress is more formal than I thought it would be which means I need to rework the plan for the BM dresses. That means I have to be stricter on the dress because I don't want them to be too formal. Which means less styles to choose from. I had not blogged about it before but I had planned to get the girls custom made skirts in different floral patterns. But now I think we will have to buy something from a bridal shop. That worries me because of cost and because of formality. I just don't want them to look like bridesmaids.

Here are some of the dresses I like; three different style and I need to narrow it down.

Which style is your favorite? Springy pastel? -or bold color? -or work wear? That last one I would pair with a flower sash instead of the belt. Help me out of this mess and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

just another rainy day

Where I would mind lounging in the hayloft on a rainy day with a book.
 A rainy day soup bowl.
 A rainy day in London.
To lift your spirits, here is some colorful rain.
For your desktop background, some whimsical rain.

Online shopping at One Kings Lane

If one thing makes my day better it's shopping and I went through... let's just say awhile where I didn't shop often. Those were dark days. But the dark days are over and I discovered online shopping. At least once a day I browse Etsy, Amazon, Ruelala, CB2, or One Kings Lane. Lately I have been loving the deals from OKL.

Here's the scoop. OKL partners with designers to dramatically discount their products. Typically a sale lasts a week but items start selling out quickly. For example, while I type this there are seven sales open: Home Environment, Core Bamboo, Karen Robertson Collection, Amity Home, Global Amici, LG Designs, & Modern Twist. Each one shows what items are available at the discount. Each company discount is different and each item discount is different. I mananged to snag these items below for $21 and original retail cost is $44. While that seems like a 50% discount, the Hermetic bottles were being sold in sets of three. So I'm getting four awesome pieces for $44.

Not sold on the site? Not enough options? Check out the art gallery. There is always a wide variety of styles. My current favorite is this piece by Pragya Kathoria. How perfect for a child's room?

Make sure to explore the site because sometimes there are hidden sales in the articles on their "Get Inspired" page. I came across these little gorgeous things for $19. Have I mentioned lately I love ampersands?

It is so important to check the website often otherwise you miss amazing deals on amazing pieces. Today I missed out on this gorgeous shelf that I would love to have for my bathroom. Originally $975, it was on sale for $369.
And lastly, they have a nice little photo gallery sorted by room. I love these.

If you are interested in browsing use this link to sign up. https://www.onekingslane.com/invite/CourtneyWorkman You do have to register and it will send you emails with the new sales.
