DIY - Ball Wreath

CB2 is one of my favorite home decor shopping sites. It has modern furniture with a touch of whimsy. I came across this gorgeous wreath on their site and decided I could definitely do this on my own. Keep reading to learn how. :)

Start out with a Styrofoam wreath base. I love working with Styrofoam because it holds pretty much any glue as well as pins and staples. You can choose whatever size you like but I went with a 18" ring. If you can find a flat ring, as opposed to this rounded ring, your life will be easier.

Next you need to decide what you kinds of things you want to attach. The easy way out and the way to get a more direct match to the picture is to purchase these Fuzzy Snowballs. Then you can just hot glue them on and be nearly finished.

But if you want to make your own, follow the directions I shared in this post about making sweater baubles. Only this time, you can start with a Styrofoam ball instead of the ornament.

For extra texture, you could coat a Styrofoam ball in white glitter. Or pick up some white feathers and glue them all over the ball.

You can also use clear glass ornaments and fill them with the feathers.

No matter what you decide, all you need to do is hot glue the snow (sweater, glitter, feather) balls to the wreath base. Next add silver and gold ornaments to fill in any bare spots. String a few of the ornaments with clear wire and tie around the wreath. Use a tiny drop of hot glue on the spot to keep it in place. Choose a 1 1/2" to 2" ribbon to tie around the top to hang in where you like.
